Farrer School Foundation Inc.


The Farrer School Foundation Inc was formed in 2018 for the purpose of promoting education at FMAHS through advancing opportunities for curricular and extra curricular activities at the school. The Foundation will work with the school, the Farrer Old Boys and the Farrer PT&F to improve facilities and offer scholarships and bursaries at FMAHS.

The Farrer School Foundation Inc. is registered under the Associations Incorporations Act (NSW) 2009.

Foundation Objectives

The foundation aims to supplement and complement the activities of the school by:

  • developing a Foundation Scholarship and Bursary Fund
  • establishing a School Building Fund
  • establishing a School Rural Hostel Building Fund
  • fund raising through the community including past students, parents, families and friends and through the wider community, in particular the agriculture industry.
  • seeking bequests to assist project developments at Farrer MAHS
  • managing Foundation invested funds to optimise long term growth and security.

Farrer Foundation Scholarships and Bursaries Fund

There are a range of scholarships to be offered at Farrer. We are targeting a range of students including those with talents and those facing disadvantage or hardship.

Our scholarships will focus on academic, agriculture, music and sport.

Our bursaries will assist isolated and indigenous students. The Foundation also will help fund bursaries to assist deserving students/boarders whose family’s financial or personal situation or other unforeseen events would otherwise prevent them from attending Farrer.

Farrer Foundation School Building Fund

The School Building Fund will be used to improve existing facilities and provide new ones not funded by the government.

The School Building Fund was established to provide for the acquisition of resources and technology to support the students.

Our students need the best educational facilities including technology to maintain a competitive edge in this digital age. The Foundation aims to support the school to upgrade our IT and networks for the 21st century.

One of the Foundation’s major projects under consideration is the building of a School Hall. This facility will contain an auditorium capable of accommodating for the whole school community for such events as Speech Day. It could include a stage for major productions, mezzanine seating, rehearsal spaces, meeting rooms, examination spaces and specialist rooms for PE. The facility would also have the capacity to cater for a variety of indoor sports.

Farrer Foundation School Rural Hostel Building Fund

Farrer MAHS is one of the largest boarding schools in NSW. Our residential amenities need to be constantly upgraded to provide the best possible boarding facilities for our students. The Foundation will support the school in ensuring the boarders have the best possible resintial experience.

Farrer Foundation Committee of Management

The Foundation is an Incorporated Association under the Associations Incorporations Act (NSW) 2009.

The Foundation Committee has seven (7) members comprising:

  • two (2) from the Farrer MAHS School Council,
  • two (2) from the Farrer MAHS Parents, Teachers and Friends,
  • two (2) from the Farrer MAHS Old Boys’ Association and
  • an honorary accountant.

The Committee of Management will oversee the essential functions of the Foundation including fundraising and the astute and responsible investment of the Foundation funds using independent financial advice from professionals.
